NOAA Weather Radio - Codes (SAME Codes)

SAME is an acronym for Specific Area Message Encoding. These numeric codes are based on FIPS codes; yet another acronym for "Federal Information Processing Standards". Basically these "ID numbers" are assigned to countries, states, counties and cities, simply for easy identification purposes. This works perfectly for programming the new NWR, Weather Alert Radios which allow you to receive alerts for specific counties pertinent to you and your family.
